Pinarayi Vijayan denies link in Kerala top cop-RSS leader meet

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has denied any involvement in the alleged meeting between Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Ajith Kumar and RSS leaders, stating that action will be taken against the top cop if found guilty.
Vijayan also emphasised that no decision will be made based on mere allegations, and a proper investigation is underway.
In a press conference on Saturday, the Chief Minister addressed accusations from Left Democratic Front (LDF) MLA PV Anwar, who claimed the ADGP acted as Vijayan’s middleman in meeting RSS leaders. The Chief Minister rejected these claims, asserting that sending police on political missions is not the government’s practice.
“Let me make one thing clear. We do not have the practice of deploying police officers for political discussions. If any officer has met with any political or organisational leader, and if the meeting affects official duties, action will be taken according to law and rules. That decision will be made after receiving the investigation report,” he said in the press conference.
The Kerala Chief Minister clarified that the ongoing investigation will determine the outcome, and any police officer found guilty of compromising official duties by engaging with political or organisational leaders will face consequences according to law.
He also criticised LDF MLA PV Anwar for directly raising allegations against the Chief Minister’s political secretary and police officials in the media instead of following party procedures. He noted that Anwar’s background stems from the Congress, highlighting his different political path.
Regarding allegations of gold smuggling involving the ADGP and a former Superintendent of Police (SP), Vijayan stated that there is no bias in handling the matter. The SP has been suspended pending inquiry for making inappropriate public statements.
The Chief Minister assured that strict action will be taken if any wrongdoing is found.
